T-Mobile's Samsung Highlight is the newest model in Samsung's touch-screen phone line that began last year with the Behold.
Also called the SGH-T749, the Highlight is positioned as an entry-level touch-screen device. On the outside it sports an agreeable design in either fire (red and orange) and ice (almost a turquoise).
You'll also find a stylized pattern on its rear face and well-designed physical controls. The three-inch display is on the small side, but it compensates for size with a brilliant 16 million-color resolution.
The feature set isn't extensive, but it's respectable. You'll find a 3-megapixel camera, a music player, stereo Bluetooth, PC syncing and USB bass storage, voice dialing and commands, messaging and Web-based POP3 e-mail, a personal organizer, a 2,000-contact phone book, instant messaging, GPS, a full HTML browser, a speakerphone and a file manager.
The Highlight goes on sale Tuesday for $149 with a two-year contract. We're giving it a shake-down now and will have a review in the next day.
